The Editorial Office of the Journal of History, Society and Culture (JHSC) is pleased to invite scholars, researchers, and students worldwide to submit original research for publication in 2026.

JHSC welcomes high-quality scholarly contributions addressing historical, social, and cultural issues from diverse disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and cross-cultural perspectives.

Special Publication Opportunity: No APC for the First Two Issues of 2026

To support scholarly communication and encourage high-quality submissions, all articles accepted for publication in the first and second issues of JHSC in 2026 will be published free of charge, with no Article Processing Charge (APC).

This means that eligible articles scheduled for these two issues will not be required to pay the standard publication fee.

Authors interested in this opportunity are encouraged to submit their manuscripts early, as all submissions remain subject to the journal’s standard editorial screening and peer-review procedures.

Editorial & Publication Timeline

1. Online Submission

Authors may submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system in accordance with JHSC's submission and formatting requirements.

2. Initial Editorial Screening — 1–2 Working Days

Following online submission, the Editorial Office will normally complete an initial assessment within 1–2 working days. The assessment considers:

• Relevance to the aims and scope of JHSC

• Compliance with manuscript and formatting requirements

• Academic quality and overall suitability

• Completeness of the submission materials

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening will proceed to peer review.

3. Peer Review — Approximately 10–20 Working Days

Eligible manuscripts will undergo the journal’s standard peer-review process.

Authors will normally receive an editorial decision or feedback within approximately 10–20 working days.

Depending on the outcome of the review, manuscripts may be accepted, returned to the authors for revision, or declined.

4. Acceptance

Once a manuscript has successfully completed the peer-review and revision process and has been approved for publication, the Editorial Office will issue an official Letter of Acceptance.

5. Publication Fee

For articles accepted and scheduled for publication in Issue 1 and Issue 2 of 2026:

APC: USD 0 — Free Publication

No Article Processing Charge will be required for eligible articles published in these two issues.

For articles published outside this free-publication arrangement, the journal’s standard APC policy will apply.

6. Copyediting, Proofreading & Online Publication — Approximately 1–2 Months

Following acceptance, manuscripts will proceed to the production stage, including copyediting, proofreading, final preparation, and online publication.

The production and publication process is generally completed within approximately 1–2 months.

Expedited Online Publication

Authors with a specific need for expedited online publication may contact the Editorial Office by email after receiving the Letter of Acceptance.

Please explain the circumstances and, where applicable, your preferred publication timeline. The Editorial Office will review the request and make appropriate arrangements where possible.
